Strong vocal talent -
It is a bright and deep sounding voice with good diction, no accent, very well suited for live announcing. The voice travels well thru ambient noise which the first MP3 file should demonstrate. The sound is pleasing and I apply levels of enthusiasm depending on the event requirements
|
A unique and definitive personality
I have a very colorful personality and it can be adjusted to develop the desired personality by presenting the marketing promotions in certain ways, and in how the starting lineups are announced (as examples).
|
Ability to multi-task in a stressful environment
It's a challenging environment, the task requires preparation and good execution. An announcer multitasks by staying aware of the event in progress while preparing for the next script to be read. Especially at the beginning of an event, when everything has to come together on time, it requires preparation and teamwork to get it done right and on schedule.
|
Comfortable announcing to large crowds
I have announced to pretty big crowds and I am comfortable with it. The Bellevue - De La Salle football game at Qwest Field was 25,000 and the Stadium opening fanfare was 70,000 over two days. There was probably 40,000 at a Seahawks scrimmage. The CWU / WWU games at Qwest have attendance over 10,000.
|
Comfortable announcing complex names from a variety of ethnic backgrounds
I have a 4 step process to get the most complex names correct prior to game time to ensure I say it correctly during the event. The most complicated game I ever announced was the Everett Hawks vs. the Samurai Warriors all Japanese indoor football team.
|
Ability to be spontaneous and react quickly as appropriate
Very much so, I can react spontaneously as deemed within bounds. Being too spontaneous can really be dangerous. You need the discipline to trial-run what you are about to say before you say it, for appropriateness
